Nikkei Futures Opening Update as on 31 Jan. 2020

The Nikkei 225 Future is trading at 23,082.50  with a loss of –0.49% percent or -112.50 point.The  Nifty Future is trading at 12,035.50 with a loss of -0.09% percent or -10.45 point. The Hang Seng Future is trading at 26,300.00 with a loss of -0.36% percent or -94.50 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Nikkei closed higher on Friday as some upbeat corporate earnings and forecasts helped, although the benchmark recorded its worst weekly slide in six months on fears of the rapidly-spreading coronavirus in China.

The Nikkei share average .N225 ended 1.0% higher at 23,205.18, but lost 2.6% in the week. January’s fall of 1.9% was its first monthly loss since August last year.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 26,384.60 with a loss of –0.24% percent or –64.53  point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,976.53 with a loss of –2.75% percent or –84.23 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 40,810.35 with a loss of –0.25% percent or –103.47 point at 12:15 PM.
