Nikkei Futures Opening Update as on 23 May 2018

The Nikkei 225 Future is trading at 22,720.00 with a loss of  -1.05% percent or  -240.00 point . The NSE Nifty Future is trading at 10,509.80 with a loss of  -0.41%  percent or  -43.05 point. The Hang Seng Future is trading at 30,694.00 with a loss of -1.70% percent or  -532.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Japan’s Nikkei slumped more than 1% in early trading Wednesday, as Asian stock markets pulled back following new uncertainty about trade tensions between the U.S. and China and the possibility that the summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may be delayed.

The Nikkei NIK, -1.18%   fell to its lowest point since May 11 in midmorning trading as the yen rose. The yen is seen as a safe haven for investors during times of stock tumult. The dollar JPYUSD, +0.875063%   slid below ¥110.50 after trading above ¥111 in New York late Tuesday.

For the day  Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,689.74 with a loss of -1.18% percent or -270.60 point.the nifty closed at 10,516.65  with a loss of -0.18% percent or  -19.20 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 30,759.57 with a loss of -1.52% percent or  -474.78 point. 

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 24,834.41  with a loss of -0.72% percent or  -178.88 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,724.44  with a loss of -0.31% percent or -8.57 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,378.46 with a loss of -0.21% percent or  -15.58 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,625.24  with a loss of -0.75% percent or  -12.20 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 1,003.41  with a loss of -0.83% percent or -8.41 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,948.81  with a loss of -0.70% percent or  -13.67 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,197.14 with a loss of -0.28% percent or  -3.39 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,619.25 with a loss of -0.38% percent or  -6.10 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,511.67 with a loss of -0.34% percent or -5.21 point;
