Asia-Pacific markets experienced an uptick on Thursday, following the upward momentum of market, spurred by AMD’s third-quarter earnings surpassing expectations, which in turn bolstered artificial intelligence stocks. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index experienced an increase of 1.34%, concluding at 50,883.68, while the Topix index saw a rise of 1.38%, finishing at 3,313.45. Japanese companies in the artificial intelligence sector experienced notable increases: Advantest, a supplier of testing equipment to Nvidia, saw a rise of 3.15%, chipmaker Renesas Electronics recorded an increase of over 3%, and chip equipment manufacturer Disco Corp advanced by more than 6%.

South Korea’s Kospi index increased by 0.55%, concluding at 4,026.45. Shares of Nvidia-supplier SK Hynix experienced an increase of 2.42% at the close of trading. The small-cap Kosdaq experienced a decline of 0.41%, concluding the session at 898.17. Australia’s ASX/S&P 200 experienced an increase of 0.3%, reaching a level of 8,828.3. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index increased by 2.12% to reach 26,485.9, whereas the mainland’s CSI 300 saw a rise of 1.43%, climbing to 4,693.4.

In their market debut in Hong Kong, shares of Chinese autonomous vehicle firms WeRide and Pony.ai experienced declines of over 12% and nearly 8%, respectively. Both firms are currently publicly traded in the United States. Pony.ai raised gross proceeds of HK$6.7 billion (approximately $860 million) in its initial public offering, as stated in a filing. WeRide secured HK$2.4 billion in funding. India’s Nifty 50 experienced a decline of 0.1%, whereas the BSE Sensex index remained unchanged.

U.S. equity futures exhibited minimal movement during the early hours in Asia, following the Supreme Court’s display of skepticism regarding President Donald Trump’s tariffs, alongside a rebound in AI stocks after a prior sell-off driven by valuation apprehensions. Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced an increase of 225.76 points, reflecting a rise of 0.48%, ultimately closing at 47,311.00. The S&P 500 experienced an increase of 0.37%, concluding at 6,796.29, whereas the Nasdaq Composite saw a rise of 0.65%, closing at 23,499.80.
