Nikkei Futures Opening Update as on 29 May 2018

The Nikkei 225 Future is trading at 22,300.00  with a loss of -0.84% percent or  -190.00 point . The NSE Nifty Future is trading at 10,652.00 with a loss of -0.25%  percent or -26.85 point. The Hang Seng Future is trading at 30,526.00 with a loss of -0.76% percent or  -234.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The Nikkei NIK, -0.55%  closed up 0.1%, as the yen steadied. Meanwhile, benchmarks in South Korea SEU, -0.88%  and Taiwan Y9999, -0.22%  rose 0.7% and 0.4%, respectively.

Airlines and electronics stocks helped the Nikkei start on the right foot; ANA9202, +0.22%   was 2.2% higher. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electron 8035, -1.07%   rose a further 1.5% and Sony 6758, -0.44%  was up 2% as the dollar USDJPY, -0.60%   climbed to ¥109.70. And as is the norm, falling Treasury yields were hitting Japanese life insurers, with Dai-ichi 8750, -0.83%   off more than 1%.

For the day Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,358.43  with a loss of -0.55% percent or  -122.66 point.the nifty closed at 10,666.90  with a loss of  -0.20% percent or -28.50 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 30,482.01 with a loss of  -1.01% percent or  -310.25 point. 

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 24,753.09 with a loss of -0.24%percent or -58.67 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,721.33  with a loss of  -0.24% percent or -6.43 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,433.85  up with +0.13% percent or +9.42 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,626.93  with a loss of   -0.079% percent or  -1.29 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 1,004.64  with a loss of -0.046% percent or  -0.46 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,946.87 with a loss of  -0.24% percent or -4.68 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,194.53 with a loss of -0.26% percent or  -3.15 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,618.01 with a loss of -0.21% percent or  -3.37 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,510.27 with a loss of -0.22% percent or -3.31 point;
