Asian stocks started lower Wednesday following fresh declines in Europe and the U.S., amid fears that Italy could go months more without a government.
Declines were spread across Asian markets. South Korea’s Kospi SEU, -1.96% dropped around 2%, as did stocks in Shanghai SHCOMP, -2.53% and SingaporeSTI, -1.95% , while Hong Kong stocks HSI, -1.44% were down 1.6%. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 XJO, -0.48% only slipped 0.5%, while New Zealand’s NZX 50NZ50GR, +0.14% was slightly higher.
