TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
An internal assessment by banks shows that investors in Adani Group bonds could see a trading loss after Moody’s downgraded the credit outlook of some group companies, but lenders with secured debt are counting on the conglomerate’s expected $7 billion annual pre-tax earnings for timely loan repayments. The impact of the Moody’s Investors Service report is likely to be different on the two groups of debt holders, bankers said. An immediate market reaction in a selloff could lead to mark-to-market losses on bond portfolios. For banks, the projection on pre-tax earnings provides visibility on payments for at least 18 months
