A U.S. official informed on Wednesday that American forces executed new strikes aimed at a military site thought to pose a threat to U.S. troops and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Kuwait activated its air defences Thursday in response to what it characterised as “hostile missile and drone threats,” as stated in a post by the nation’s armed forces on X.

In a statement disseminated by Iran’s state-affiliated Tasnim news agency, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it targeted a U.S. air base following a U.S. assault in proximity to Bandar Abbas airport. West Texas Intermediate futures for July exhibited an increase of 2.55%, reaching $90.94 per barrel as of 3:35 am. Brent crude futures for July increased by 2.57%, reaching a price of $96.69 per barrel. Major Asian indexes reduced their losses. South Korea’s Kospi concluded Thursday’s trading at a decline of 0.53%, settling at 8,185.29, whereas the small-cap Kosdaq experienced a more significant drop of 2.54%, finishing at 1,104.36.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 experienced a decrease of 0.47%, closing at 64,693.12, while the Topix saw a decline of 0.41%, ending at 3,902.01. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 experienced a decline of 1.43%, settling at 8,592.90. China’s CSI 300 reversed its initial losses, ultimately rising by 0.12% to reach 4,914.21. In contrast, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng experienced a decline of 1.38% during the final hour of afternoon trading. India’s Nifty 50 exhibited stability, whereas the BSE Sensex experienced a decline of 0.19%.

S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures both experienced an increase of less than 0.1%. Futures associated with the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 49 points, representing a 0.1% rise. During Wednesday’s regular session, the S&P 500 ticked 0.02% higher to 7,520.36, marking yet another closing record. The 30-stock Dow experienced an increase of 182.60 points, translating to a rise of 0.36%, culminating in a record close of 50,644.28. The Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.07% to end at 26,674.73.
